Cladding Spraying – How to spray paint cladding panels

Cladding Spraying

Surface Information- Pre-finished steel cladding panels have been extensively used in the construction of industrial and retail units over the last 30 years. Although the panels have a long life expectancy, the factory applied coating (plastisol, PVF2 ) will gradually degrade over time and a programme of regular maintenance is recommended.

Industrial & Commercial Spraying

Coating Specification - Specifying the correct paint system is critical to ensure surface compatibility and maximum life expectancy of the finished coating. A specialist coating such as colour+fast (CC-01) is recommended. Developed specifically for spray application on to existing steel, plastisol and PVF2 coated exterior cladding panels. This high quality coating provides resistance to atmospheric pollution, fungal attack,
impact and abrasion and exhibits similar performance characteristics to the original cladding panels.

Surface Preparation - Surface preparation is dependent on the condition of the existing coating and can be determined following completion of a site survey. If the existing coating is in good condition, high pressure power washing will be the minimum requirement. For coatings that have degraded further, partial or complete removal of the existing coating may be required.

Masking & Protection - Extensive masking is completed prior to commencement of the spraying process to ensure that adjacent surfaces are protected.

Access Equipment - Typically high level projects will be completed using a combination of scaffold towers, self-propelled booms and scissor lifts. A site survey will be carried out to determine the exact requirements at each site. Always ensure that all operatives are trained and certified by IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) and PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers & Manufacturers Association) to ensure that high level spraying work is completed safely and efficiently.

Programming Works - Works are programmed to ensure minimal disruption to the normal working routine. Approximately 100m2 of cladding can be spray coated in a single shift on-site.
