Re-spray, don’t clean!

Although cleaning architectural surfaces may seem like a more cost-effective solution at first, there are many factors to consider that will affect the overall result.

Whether indoors or out – cleaning means that the dirt that is discolouring the surface is diluted and spread around instead of removed. The overall result will not give you the desired finish of new tiles or cladding and time and budget could be wasted.

Ceiling tiles will absorb water and cleaning fluids as well as the dirt as it is emulsified which will create an inconsistent finish and affect the acoustics of the room.

Spray coating will create a ‘like-new’ finish whilst increasing the life span of architectural surfaces. Both efficient and cost-effective, spray coating will guarantee a high quality and even finish across suspended ceilings, cladding, shopfronts and other metal architectural elements, plus there is no need for any chemical cleaning products!

Tips to ensure a fast refurbishment project

Revitalising the architectural surfaces in retail premises and commercial offices is sure to brighten the mood and help increase profits.

To benefit quickly from your refurbishment projects and ensure a quick turnaround:

·         Wherever you can, refurbish instead of replacing architectural elements such as cladding, aluminium framework, shopfronts and suspended ceilings

·         Choose a supplier with a good track record – look out for NAS accreditation and quality of previous work

·         Ensure your suppliers will fit with your schedule and work out of hours

·         Ask about a warranty to avoid re-work later down the line

·         Ensure your supplier can provide a consistent finish across all of your architectural surfaces to give a high quality finish that you’re 100% satisfied with

Refurbishment v replacement – savings chart

Here’s an idea of the savings that you could make if you refurbish existing architectural surfaces instead of replacing them.

Up to £27 per m2

Avoid delays on renovation projects

Renovation projects are renowned for running over their completion date and generally are a bit of a rocky process. Structural issues often arise and before you know it, the whole project is pushed back a week or two.

Not only is the renovation itself a costly matter, but productivity is affected by the ‘unexpected’ delays, causing the company to lose further money, disrupting the balance and possibly putting a strain on current projects with your clients.

Have you ever thought about refurbishment as an alternative? It’s not always an option, however, when it comes to the replacement of a ceiling, be sure to give a great deal of thought to refurbishment and avoid the costly (both time and money) affects your business could incur.

Ceiling re-spraying is not only acknowledged as being highly cost effective and efficient, but work can be completed outside of office hours without any implications to business areas or productivity, which means profits are maximised.  What’s more, low odour, quick dry coatings means ceilings are completely restored and ready for business the very next day!

Get rid of discoloured ceilings

Since the smoking ban was imposed last year, you may have areas of your office with nicotine stained ceilings, or your ceilings may have discoloured over time. Replacement is expensive, time consuming and disruptive.

The most resourceful way to brighten up your offices and lift the spirit of your employees would be to refresh your suspended ceilings with a spray applied coating, resulting in a clean, professional finish and a higher rate of productivity, which equals more profit!

Most offices have either mineral fibre, metal pan, concrete or roof deck soffits, which can easily be spray coated over night without causing an odour. Allowing your staff to resume work as normal straight away.

Encourage new customers

As the saying goes ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, we know all too well that this isn’t always the case. When it comes to the fierce competition on the high street you need to do all you can to entice the consumer inside.

At first sight, the quality of your shop fronts could be a factor in the decision of a customer thinking about entering your store.

Rejuvenating your shop front doesn’t have to mean closure during trading times and losing out on custom. On-site spray applied coatings are a highly cost-effective, durable and efficient way of breathing life back into your shop front. Developed specially for the re-colouring of your commercial shop fronts, windows and doors, spraying can be undertaken at night to ensure that you can continue trading without disruption or loss.

This technique is becoming an increasingly popular option for the improvement of shop fronts throughout the UK, with such benefits; it is easy to see why.

Exterior Focus

With exteriors of commercial premises looking tired after the winter months and spring just around the corner, you’ll probably have requirements to rejuvenate any worn out or dilapidated surfaces.

Are you looking at ways to reduce your refurbishment costs without compromising results?

Spray coating is a great way of revitalising aluminium shopfronts and cladding. It’s fast and cost-effective, projects can even be completed ‘out of hours’, so they won’t interfere with daily operation or profits!

Who’s doing what? Focus on Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s have recognised that well managed and delivered spray coating projects are a cost-effective and fast way of updating premises. Currently they are taking advantage of spray applied coating systems supplied by Sprayzone for their refurbishment programme this year.

The programme will involve updating ceilings in 36 of their stores nationwide. By using a reliable spray coating contractor they’ll benefit from a consistent finish across all stores.

With accurate masking and protection of stock, the ceilings will be updated whilst the stores are closed so that operation and profits will remain unaffected whilst Sainsbury’s benefit from fresher stores.

Great looking premises v weather and pollution!

Our (not so glorious!) local climate and air pollution constantly challenges the wear and tear of commercial property exteriors, the harsh conditions of the outdoor environment and increased use of commercial interiors can mean that commercial premises don't stay in mint condition, especially if the incorrect spray application has been used.

In order to try and combat these extremities and preserve the cosmetics of your commercial property, unique spray coating systems have been specially developed to guarantee optimum results and keep premises looking smarter for longer.

Strong supply chain = strong results

Whilst the economy takes a bit of a hit, you don't want the results of your spray coating projects to be compromised. When sourcing a spray coating specialist always carry out a background check:

  • What's their financial situation currently?

Credit check information is available to anyone; all you need to do is register on a credit check website

  •  What work have they carried out recently?

The calibre of companies that have recently had spray coating projects will give you a good idea of the quality of work.

  •  What were their recent spray coating results like?

It's always best to look at sites which have recently been updated to see whether the standard will be high enough for yours.

At Sprayzone, we always encourage our customers and prospects to see the results of our projects before they commit, that way they can feel confident that the results will be exceptional and long lasting.

Specially formulated spray coating systems

You may often see architectural surfaces, which have been recently painted with an inappropriate product, and already the paint is peeling and requires remedial action.

To ensure your project looks fresh for many years to come always ensure the existing surface is correctly prepared, use a compatible coating system and a professional applicator.

Sprayzone have produced a portfolio of spray applied coatings engineered specifically for a range of architectural surfaces including exterior cladding panels, aluminium shop fronts and suspended ceilings. The spray coating systems have been produced in association with leading paint manufacturers to ensure maximum compatibility with the surface and durability, so you can trust that your refresh projects are of a high standard and will stand the test of time and weather!

Ease the senses

Certain coating systems can propel unpleasant fumes which linger for a long period of time. This is obviously unsuitable for commercial projects as your colleagues and customers will be affected.

When completing any spray projects, employ a low odour coating system, wherever possible, to enable your premises and colleagues to operate efficiently without the need to pause business.

Not only have Sprayzone developed low odour coating systems for ceilings, but all of our paints are Iscocyanate free and ideal for interior and exterior application.
